 Topic: 1970s AC Dealers Cash back ad

Anyone on the forum remember these days? Anybody buy a tractor back then & receive the cash back during the purchase?

After the 1099 's were sent to the first customer - the dealers took it off the price and figured it in the 'deal'. Home office bean counters shook with horror at all the discounts - customers thought it was trivial. In the mid 70's dealers were selling to dealers at 10% off list - no programs - in the mid 80s we were getting 20 % discounts off invoice...

Thanks for chiming in. Back then, what dollar amount differences were between “list” and “invoice”?

Hi CaptainDana. Sorry my post is kinda poor resolution. I’ll look around to see if I can locate original photo? Been awhile, but think I took a snap shot of it from the back of original AC sales literature? Or maybe it was from an advertisement in 1970s farm magazine? See what I can do…

BACK THEN, 23% off list was net - then have to add back freight and set up and delivery. Today it varies wildly . In fact there are items that require a lot of set up that a dealer could lose money on even selling at list!
