I have seen numerous posts about the color scheme for my 1960 D17 Series 1 gasoline wide front(s/n 29963). I've seen so many contradictory posts I don't know where to go and my hair is about to catch on fire. And since I don't have any hair that's a trick! Help! Mostly I need to know the color of the wheels, the rims, The steering wheel, the seat, The headlamps, and the grill. I realize the orange is the Persian orange but I'm confused about whether or not the grill has the black outlines or not. Generally I would like the entire scheme explained to me! Thanks in advance!

One of the ways I use to answer these type questions when trying to restore something is to find model year literature etc, I use ebay a lot for that. Asking questions here can help, but a picture is worth a thousand words so they say.

Looking at the information in Norm Swinford's book, it appears that D-17 serial # 1001 - 23363 for the years 1957 - 59 that the wheels were painted orange, headlamp and tail lamps were black, and the grille was orange. Don't know about the seat and the rims were silver. For the 1959-60 serial numbers 24001 his book refers to a black bar grille. The perimeter and three bars were painted black and I believe the mesh was painted silver. If you can get your hands on literature that help a lot. Pictures in Norm's book a pretty much black and white for the early D-17's
