Thinking you mean (them)? I would not have any idea on them as each one I have taken apart that have been tight have had different reasons. On the C's the most common thing to make (them) tight has been the rust on the front shaft going from the outside arm to the gear. On the B's the most common is the ball bearing race in the bottom rusting. I don't think you would be able to even guess without taking it apart.

I have had the Gemmer box on my C get tight suddenly. One of the adjustments had slipped and I had to readjust the whole box.
