My good friends just got back from Milwaukee they were disappointed that there really is no dedication, or much left of the plant(that I knew). I know it takes money to build a place but don't you think that city would want a building, it don't have to be anything like Deere has in Moline, but something similar. A-C really put Milwaukee and West Allis on the map for years, but I would think they would gain some type of revenue in the long run from it, when you think about how big A-C got to be its really kinda of sad there is nothing there to show for. My buddy and his wife said that visiting the Pabst Mansion did make up for it though!!!!..LOL!!!

I'm sure if you fund it and organize it and build it and go though all the paperwork it would take to build something in a city that size they would let you!
Just sayin!!! Takes lots of things like that, and gov't's are more concerned about getting money and doing things their way with permits etc. then they would take the time to just do it.

Allis had a Construction Machinery Plant in Springfield Ill for almost 100 years also. Thats the capitol of Illinois! Today there is a Auto Zone, appartments, sub shop, and a dozen other small stores at the site. Dozed over and covered with concrete or grass. ---o-yea, there 5000 people there working 30 years ago.
