to revitalize latex paint that had gotten froze.
Behr paint & primer, custom color, bought this past summer. Thought the paint was in the garage, but some how it was in a 3 season porch, got froze last week. Thawed now, stirring it has the consistency of thin oatmeal. Any tricks to hopefully save this paint? |

I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

That might be the normal for that paint? If not, try a very little water, mix well.

About 3/4 of the gallon. When new it was a smooth paint. |

I know some of the primer/paint stuff is thicker. With that being said, try the water, what do you have to loose at this point? BUT, if, if smells like rottin eggs, its done and gone!

Not quite, more like thin mortar, or wet sand. Stir it up, then a few minutes later the heavy stuff will settle towards the bottom. The color is intact. |

stir by hand ?? Get one of the stirs you put in a drill... Or borrow the wifes egg beater.... 3-4 minutes of that should work... and a little water is good..

Got one those drill stir things. Just need to paint a cold air return louver in the hallway. Have one coat on already. Will do a 2nd coat tomorrow. Saving the paint for now, will keep in the house. Maybe this summer when temps hit 100 I’ll put the stir bit in the drill press, try that. Let it mix for a couple hours on a hot day?

best way, have the 'better half' take it back to the store ! 2nd best, you go... have them 'shake it up ' then inspect, when they say 'no good', have her get a new full can for free ! I just took a 3 year old meat grinder back( stripped gear) ,got a complete new machine...no problem.
