 Topic: 42” center castings

Looking for Pair it 42” center castings for 7010–8070, I have noticed that Allis had two types, one flat and one with offset for wedge clamp. Does anyone know how much difference there is between the two different types?

I am not an expert on the 7 and 8000 series, but I believe all of the castings are for 38" rims. 42" Was achieved by using step up rims to fit the original castings, or by using larger wedges.

There was 42 inch centers, not sure of the difference in offset between the 2 types.

We once owned a 8070 2wd with the 42" cast centers. The difference between the 38'" centers is that they are offset maybe 2-3 inches to allow the wheel track to be set on 60 inch centers. Probably not a lot of theses centers around as 42" tires had just started to come into play when AC was on the way out. Best to just use your 38" centers with 42" step-up wedges and 42" drop center rims. Good Luck, Mike

I saw a 4W305 at summerix once that had 42 inch tires with the 42 in center. only 42" centers I have seen on allis chalmers tractors. Step up rims are not that expensive to buy, I have done a couple with them.
