I need a set of 18.4 x28 tires and I was shocked I was quoted $700 a piece for Armstrong tires. Any suggestions?

My 180 has the same, I spoke to a local tire shop a Goodyear dealer(they sell buffed tires with no name) and can get me new ones for $310 each, Goodyear were a lot higher as were the Firestone, I did not price Armstrong. They did say they would have to order and would be a few days to two weeks.

18.4X28 are expensive as I guess it is not a common size on newer tractors and few are made.
I spent the money on rims & centers to upgrade my 16.9X28's on my 180 to 18.4X30's instead of 18.4X28's...very glad I did. I paid less than $500 a tire for new BKT tires. I also tried to get quote out of TireTown and the wouldn't respond to my request for a quote so I told them I'd take my business somewhere else if they wouldn't give me a firm quote. I think the prices they post on their web site are total bull and thought I've seen other people comment their real prices are higher. Mike

$700 a piece is cheap! I priced out some Firestones a few months ago at $890 each! I think I'll try to get another year out of the old ones!

Skyhigh, where did you get the 18.4x30 centers and rims? Are they spin outs as the originals were? I would be willing at a reasonable amount of money to upgrade my old beast 180 as the last set of 28's I bought were used(from Tire Town) and are showing signs of carcass separation, I have had them over two years and Locust thorns was not very kind to them. We are slowly eradicating the Locust so new tires may be in the offing!

I got my set of used AC 5-rail spin out rims & centers from Niel at Northside Salvage in Red Bud, IL. I think he will take your old rims & centers on trade but I wanted to keep my old ones (4 rails with 16.9X28's) to go on my WD45 that the 190 picker is going on. Mike

I have a good set of goodyears on press steel wheels 8 bolt 6 inch center hole . tires have four inch deep tread left on them I will take 700 for them if your interested.

Mike that tractor looks much better with the big rubber. I found a set of 18.4 x 30 rims, centers and tires for my 175D for $500, only downside is the long bar/short bar tires which are very rough riding at slow speeds.....170D next to it has the 18.4 x 28 Armstrongs on it.
