301 rod bolts?

In process of putting pistons in a 190xt. Want to replace rod bolts while in there. Agco parts book shows 2 numbers. One sounds like rod replacement is required and the other is a direct replacement based on esn. 2d-12051. How I know if it has new rods?  Bearings have a 89 date stamp so I know it’s been open. Please help!

From what I understand the later caps for the 12point bolts had a slightly chamfered hole where the bolt head is. I’ve put a couple together with an updated bolts that I’m pretty sure didn’t have the chamfered rod caps, because they were still the hex head bolts. Both still running strong. I don’t know why the chamfer would even matter because the 12pt bolts heads have a flat mating surface.

I have rod number 4020888. Is that a new rod or the old?

6 point rod bolts were the old ones - 12 point were the later - I doubt anyone updated the bolts as AC said that was a no-no w/o machining the rod cap - we never had an issue with the 301 bolts - it was the 426 that we changed.  
When told "it's not the money,it's the principle", remember, it's always the money..
