I live about 5 miles from the Canadian border. They have free health care, but they pay very high sales taxes. Their HST is currently 13%. I'm betting that is part of their higher gas price.

sigh.. it's really a complicated SCAM...
10 c/l ( cents per liter, so X4 for USG...) federal 'gas'  tax
14.7 c/l ontario  'gas' tax
6.6 c/l carbon tax (soon to be 11 cents/l !)
and after that 13% HST (Hot potato Sales tax )

now by law, ALL this tax info is supposed to be on a sticker on EVERY pump in Ontario... yeah, NONE have it anymore.....

re: 'free' health care ..what's NOT covered are my $500 glasses, my $500 toe surgery,  my $50 chiro visits, NONE of my tooth visits,the hearing aids I need....... BUT if I was an 'immigrant' ALL that and more would be 100% free

Still with the reading Comprehension issues, I stated PRE 4th by three weeks, as in MID June.  Our gas is currently $2.85/9.  Have a BP discount program going where knock off $.05/gal to return and repeat clientele using CC buys, so actually pay $2.80/9 gallon.  PRE 4th by three weeks HERE was a Dime cheaper.

We went to the Hutchinson GOTO a few weeks back with my diesel truck towing our fifth wheel (~1300 miles each way). In some states (including NY) diesel was much more expensive at the major truck stops (Pilot, Flying J, TA, etc.) than it was at either the service areas or the smaller stations. Diesel at one NY truck stop near Waterloo NY was $3.49/ gallon, while it was $3.24 at the Thruway service area close by. Does anyone know a reason for that?
