I'm trying to remove the Garwood dozer shell from my project HD5B. Is the hydraulic pump splined to the motor or do I have to remove the adapter plate from the motor pulley? Can I pull the shell with the hydraulics attached? A previous owner welded the dozer shell to the AC frame near the right rear motor mount. Why would someone do that? Any advice for removing the Garwood shell?

It is unusually warm for February but I have a huge crop of mud.

HD6 pump was splined.
People that weld like that are either so amedextrious that the will use te torch again to cut it off when they need to or did not give a crap about the next fella that would have to work on it...  or were to dang lazy to get the right size bolts...  and then maybe it was the only way it stayed tight...
Removing? get out the gas ax....  plasma cutter, or an old air arc...

There has been a few times in my life when I welded something that should have been bolted back together, but I don't regret all the times I did it, just some!
