After getting the head rebuilt and finally getting the G230 engine running again I can see the engine needs to be rebuilt as it’s burning oil like crazy and also spitting oil out of the exhaust. I’ve been searching for a kit and see Agkits has the D230 kit available but don’t show one for the gas engine. What’s the difference between the two aside from the head gasket? I haven’t seen any other complete kits but forward some info if you know of a source. Are camshafts, lifters and pushrods available for these? Having it apart I’d prefer to freshen up all I can if possible. Here are some pics after rebuilding the head and installing.

You can do what you want but before spending all that on it,how much use will it get? My A2 combine would use a quart in a short day of harvesting. Cylinders had a lot of wear.Front one was the worst. Cut the ridges out, honed glaze and stuck rings in it. Even used the rod brgs over as they look great. It was torn down because of burnt valve. Ground valves and put it back together. Wouldn't use a quart in 30hrs of harvesting after that. Had it 19yrs.

It won’t see tons of use and your idea is a good one. My concern and I should have mentioned in my original post is that when I was putting the head back on I noticed some rust on the cylinders towards the top. I’m concerned the engine had some water in it at one point and the pitting may take out the new rings. It’s not heavily pitted though so perhaps I hit it with my hone and give it a shot. Otherwise the sleeve walls don’t appear to be horribly worn.
