A farmer up the road from me, very large truck farm and restaurant, passed away at the age of 47.
Anyway, I was out doing some errands today and passed the funeral procession going the opposite way. No hearse, the casket was carried on a "hay" wagon behind a tractor, covered with the flowers from the viewing, appeared to be driven by his dad.

I am still confident of this;
I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. Ps 27 |

All I know is this. When my dad goes, the procession will go through at least 1 small town, just so he can blow the stop sign and get away with it, I'm even going to ask the driver to make sure he's not "strapped in" at the time.

We went to a funeral last fall, the casket was on a special wagon pulled by a team of horses. The pall bearers also road in the wagon.

Our son passed away in 97 (accident) was a volunteer fireman so we had his casket moved from the Church to cemetery on the hose bed of a fire truck, his pallbearers were volunteer firemen that rode with him on the tailboard. Tim |

There was a story in the OAN of a young A/C enthusiast who died and was moved in the funueral procession on a hay wagon pulled by his favorite Orange tractor.
My brother read the magazine and told me thats what he wants done when his time comes.I told him to put in writing and I would do evrything in my power to make it happen.(If I am still alive) I want to be hauled on a frontend loader with a trip bucket.Just dump me in the hole at the cemetary !!! LOL |

Yep Steve, way too young. We lost my brother Bill 11 years ago at 53 and I thought that was too young. I told my wife to have me cremated and get my best friend to dump some of my ashes in a 12ga. shell. Touch it off up the hill where I grew up.

Sad.... We carried my grandpa to his on a wagon drawn by two Percherons... actually, they were direct decendents of the draft horses he used before buying his first WC...
But reminds me of a little ditty I heard on the Doctor Dimento Show many years ago: Send me to glory in a glad bag... Don't waste no fancy coffin on my bones Just put me out on the curb next Tuesday... Let the sanitation uncles bear me home... |

Pat, that was Eban Quimby. He died of lukemia and I wrote the article for the Old Alls News. His paternal grandfather is a friend and called here this afternoon.
His maternal grandfather, Harold Peabody, passed away about seven years ago, was carried to the cemetery on a wagon behing an RC and I wrote a story about Harold's funeral for OAN also. Bob@allisdowneast |

I used to think I was indecisive, but now I'm not sure.

Bob-Maine, I'm acquainted with the Peabody's, and at that time a picture of that procession appeared in the Quad City Times(Davenport, Iowa) with his son Alden driving Harold's favorite tractor, RC.

Sad to have to pass that young.
My late farmer friend (Rod Adamson) was carried to his grave on a hay wagon being pulled by his AC 7050. The local AC dealer (Mike Kelly) drove the tractor.

Very sad. I lost my brother on his 51st birthday. My 51st is next month so that weighs a little on me right now.
