Went to find fuel filters for my 715B with Perkins engine , seems a item that is hard to find now as least at a price they use to be .
I found some on-line but shipping cost was out of site as was filter price .
See John Deer filters AT17387 is a interchange and found some for $5 but wanting $7.95 for shipping .
Just found 4 filters on closeout area of Fleet Farm in WI but took almost 1/2 hour to locate actual hiding place - got them for $4.05 each - so good for a while now .
Seems filter is also Automotive , Marine use and Construction but prices up to $17 on some adds + the shipping cost .
Lot of adds are OUT OF STOCK - or Discontinued item .
Getting harder to run old equipment at a reasonable cost every day

Just purchased two last week for my Perkins powered Hobart Bros. welder. Same filters on my Hyster lift truck with a Perkins. Baldwin BF825 at my local Fleet Pride truck parts store. Both filters were about $16.00 with communist republic of Illinois taxes added on.

I switched out to spin on fuel filters last summer. More $ than it should have been, but just a little easier.

Seller on E-bay said would ship filters for $10 and $4.50 each if I bought 4 of them .

Baldwin still fills quite a bit of the older filters needed. My old Red Diamond engine in the R-190 truck still uses a cartridge filter as do a couple of my older Mack tractors and I've not really had problems sourcing filters for these through either Hastings, or Baldwin, (both same corporate parent). Wix is becoming more "hit and miss" than days of past. Can't get the correct filter elements for the "LuberFiner" bypass filter on my 1962 Mack any longer. Couldn't get the correct element for my HD-11 which is a Fleetguard bypass unit on the dozer either, so went to Baldwin which was current for both applications.

I have also in the past manufactured a filter cartridge adapter and mounted remote spin on filters for an old Hercules Diesel engine which is still in service.

On my HD5 I made my own adapter to switch lube and fuel filter over to spin on , but the primary filter (small wound string filter) is hard to find . Use to have source from air conditioner oil filter for large centervac  compressor

Have you looked into Fleetguard filters? I use them for everything. I've not had any problem getting a Fleetguard filter for any of my older obsolete things.

The C1191 or BF825 crosses to FF167 it would also be a Lucas 7111296 or Roosa Master 16245.

The replaceable element for the LubriFiner bypass filter would be LF750A
If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.

I spoke incorrectly on the dozer. It is a Luberfiner bypass unit and a Fram C-750 element went into this replacing a like unit. The Mack I spoke of uses a full flow unit, but I cannot remember the number, or type.

I too have had good success with FleetGuard filters which are owned by Cummins Engine.

Installed the new filters - seems one was made in Turkey , other made in China , both marked Fram .
Then looked at old filters - seems those were made in Turkey also but different in they used a O ring on filter housing inner tube - the replacements have a O ring on the filter cartridge itself built into top.
World Wide Source now it seems on many things - Noticed filter housing is White color and the mfg number is stamped on as where it's made - small writing one can hardly see .

Am fairly certain that Perkins Engines still offers the filters for the AC 715 Backhoe.  That said, Clarke Powered Solutions is the U.S.A. Vendor for Perkins OEM parts.See link here:https://clarkepoweredsolutions.com/

Am certain they are probably more costly than the Fram equivalent.  Didn't Fram go through some quality control problems with their filters?  ~  Orangeman

I've heard about the "Fram" filters dilemma over the years concerning quality control. Trouble is; every time you ask about it the answer is always basically an unsubstantiated "rumor". Internet and website endless loop conversations bolster the spread. Never any direct experience to garner the accusations from. Somebody's great aunt Matilda or something along those lines had trouble with a Fram filter, but never any direct experience.

I've used Fram filters mostly since the early 1970's and never a problem with any of them. I change oil at 5K intervals, (always have) and have installed an oil filter or two over the years, and air filters as required. In reality however, "if" a K&N filter is available the switch is made to their product for my vehicles. I keep vehicles till scrap, and this pays off in the long run.

Thank you for taking the time to research and reference this one case against Fram Filters. I would have a difficult time condemning the brand on a single citation however as I tend to look at things as they are. This is a manufactured product and manufactured products do have a percentage of failure rate. Did Allis-Chalmers build a 100% reliable tractor, (as example)? I don't think so myself. If you buy a bushel basket of apples and one in the center of the basket is rotten, is the whole bushel bad? Again, I don't think so.

I'm certainly not implying Fram builds the best filter nor degrading them. I've had good service from the brand myself. My opinion is based upon many years of good service from the brand and no other factors. However being in the retail trades for many years, and knowing how many persons go Dr. Jeckle and Mr. Hyde when something doesn't go their perceived way, this cited case leads me to believe had the victim approached the company reasonably, there would have been no need for the lawsuit. This is my opinion only and yours or anybody's may differ.
