Fram Oil Filters?

Get the Motorcraft FL797A. It's listed there for $179.95. :) That site is funny. When I typed in only C159 it returned four filters. When I typed in Fram C159 it returned a bunch of different filters. Beware that it reads "C159" as a partial number too. The odds are that most are made by Fram, but you never know.

I finished an oil change on my B on Tuesday. This particular oil change involved replacing the filter mount gasket, pulling and cleaning out the oil pan (because I never had) and cleaning the pickup screen and a new pan gasket (obviously).

When I ran a cross reference on those filter numbers on the Wix site cross reference, a number of them came up discontinued or totally different filters from the Wix 57011 which matches the Fram C159. The CARQUEST 85101, NAPA 1101, NAPA 1104, Wix 51101 and 51104 are all superseded to the Wix 57011 (NAPA's # 7011). Those were the numbers they changed to pleated paper a "few" years back and found out pleated paper does not replaced the packed media.

I have used Fram, Hastings, and Big A in the past. Currently Wix/Napa or Baldwin.

Gerald is correct. We've been a Fram dealer since 1970. We used to keep a minimum of 40 C159's on the shelf at all times. Most of the time there were closer to 60 on the shelf. We used to supply our Western vendors as well as our customer's all over the states that couldn't get Fram. About 6-7 years ago, one of our major Eastern warehouses closed. They fed us everything & anything Fram. After they closed, we started pulling Fram from the other Eastern warehouse. They didn't stock a lot of Fram, and the C159 was considered an AG filter which they didn't stock. Well, once I got them to start stocking that filter for us, the price jumped two fold! We used to sell them for $7. bucks each, or 4 or more for $6. each.  I think before the first warehouse closed, we took that "D" rated filter to a "B" rated filter in about 2 years! LOL!  Well, we were able to get the C159's, but not at a good price so we could pass on the savings. Now we have to sell em' at $12.95 each when we can get em'. Just about 18 months ago, the second warehouse we were getting our Fram from closed. Drat!  Now we're having issues trying to get Fram for our customer's. I have something in the works right now, but it takes forever for these folks to move on a deal.
