 Looking for some ideas for building a new set of wheelie bars for my 45 diesel with 15.5-38 tires. I'm trying to leave the original lift assembly on the tractor. any pictures would be great..

Consider raising the lift arms to the top and attaching a square tube with ears and pinning it to the lift arm end hole. This vertically hanging square tube would have the 5" x 5" skid pad welded to it. Now, add an angle iron to the square tube down near the skid pad and go forward to the side frame or axle housing. Generally, you want the enter of the skid pad 32 inches back from the center of the rear wheel (or more) and maximum of 9 inches off the ground. Good rules do not allow wheelie bars to be attached to the drawbar in any way.

This is a bareback D17, WC,WD, WD45,all have similar attachment points
Hitch is separate.

And you trust two 1/2" bolts to support the weight of that tractor ?? Good rules also say the wheelie bars are to be strong enough to support the weight of the tractor when jacked up underneath the wheelie bars.

Doc, these were built to comply with NATPA. They support the D17 @ 5500 easily. I don't play around building cheesey safety equipment. There are nine bolts , three in the center , three on each end.
I made them with a wide stance to make rear tire service easy, this is the simplist, sturdiest setup I could devise. What would you do differently ?

Your first picture was a waste of time. If they easily support the weight of the tractor, great. If they can't do that, how safe are they??

I really like mine. Bolts to the lift army holes. A cross link bar and a step.

I will say Gary setup is good. I know him, he has pulled with our club, and I have seen that tractor up close
