gentlemen,
I have a CA that I'm wanting to pull in the 2500lb class and am in need of assistance. Is it necessary to remove the housing for the pto/hydraulic pump and manufacture a plate to cover the hole? If so, how is the input shaft dealt with, does it need a bearing to support the tail of it or does it just need an oil cover? Or, would it be best to remove all the "stuff" from it and leave the housing in place?
tks for the input,
dg

Does your rules allow for the removal of the PTO and use a made plate? A lot of places the cover has to be a factory PTO delete cover.

How is your hitch set up? If you remove the pin hitch/traction booster assembly it will save a lot of weight.

A guy at a pull this year used his CA in 2500. He removed the fenders, platform, fender supports, 1 foot brake, all hitch components and made his own hitch. Then added suitcase weights as needed. Looked odd like that but he was happy.

A B/C pto factory delete plate fits the CA 4 speed case like it was made for it. I have a couple extra factory pto delete covers  for sale if you can't find one.

I pull a bare back CA quite sucessfully down here in NE-TX and NW-LA

Actually the pto output shaft is supported internally. There is a tit on the B/C delete plate that clears it. I will check on the current going price for a B/C cover and get back to you asap.

I was in Rusk (NOT THE STATE HOSPITAL) about 2 weeks ago with my son. We were picking up 2 Chevy Corvaires. A 67 140 coupe and a 68 Corsa ragtop. They are customer cars. One to flip and one for parts. The kid spent a few hours getting the convertable running and doing a brake job and it's already out of the shop. It will make a nice daily driver for somebody who likes Vairs

Ken,
Had a good friend in High School who had  a 'Vair with a factory turbo. What a ride! Friday nights at the  J I B in N. Dallas were wild. Won a lot of light to light races but could'nt keep belts on it.
Hear from ya soon on the  cover.
