Been getting used to the manuevering I can now do but as I get into projects that could drop things I decided to rehang the cab guard, went to whittling on it to repair the crappy welds and broken supports but had to stop on the old one, too much damage so it becomes scrap iron. This is the beginnings to the replacement I worked on today.I had the square steel from a previous project, .250 wall as opposed to the gauge metal in the old one, should take a 48x54" section of 1/8th inch to cover then find some expanded metal or woven screen for the limb shields. Will be a few days cutting and drilling the 'ears' for the bolts to go at the ends, putting pipe pivots for bolt mounts.

Well I forgot the camera this time, but I do have the frame squared and fit tested, next is to finish the leg ears and expanded metal shields then paint and install. About two days serious work ahead but well worth it now.

Here is the intermediate product, soon to e installed as to why the fourth foot is not in place. I do not trust as to being too square and plumb so will tack it together as I final fit the guard.

End result, still will get expanded metal rear panels and possibly a side panel to the right but fits up nice.
Used the old girl for an hour, started smelling trans fluid, has a leak and the steering quit before I could get to the barn. I am hoping the pump did not fail. |

Ended up a little depressed this morning, pump for steering is not operating, tractor is out in the field and weather is set to turn crappy, story of my life! Put a pressure gauge on at the discharge lines at the filters, zero pressure, no fluid movement, fluid was still just below full so leak was not the issue.
Sat down and emailed DES Beloit, Eric has contacted Minnpar as to any kind of warranty, IF there is any, surprisingly the alternate 6850861 CNH kit is back in stock so I went ahead and ordered it. I suspect the little over an hour I had out of the old new one was $1900 dollars worth of machine time but will see how they look at it. Won't be able to get back to the machine until Tuesday or Wednesday next week, maybe later, hope the pump gets here before then, another 6 hours of pump r&r work to do next week.

Surprisingly, the new pump has arrived, appearance is similar to the OE Barnes unit but a little heavier. Not sure what to think on the mounting, out of the six bolt holes only four are thru and thru, the upper inside and the lower inside are not usable as to bolting up, anyone ever use one of these?

Morning Merv, I find out this morning if the coupling sheared or if anything worse occured. DES has said they would warranty the pump should it have locked up or internally damaged in the hour of run time.

Merv, it was cracked, pump was locked tight as Dick's hatband. Still had fluid at inlet and outlet ports so I called DES, they are setting up a warranty return to Minnpar for me so should be covered. Luckily I still had the OE drive coupler from the first swap, went together OK, still apprehensive on the loss of two mounting bolts but no leaks.
