Most of the other things I touched this weekend went sour, but when it came to the AC stuff I could do no wrong. I took the bucket and loader frame off my HD3 so that I can get it into my garage for the winter. I switched a set of 28" tires off of my D15 and put a set of 26" tires and rims/centers that I got off of ebay a while back, used my 45 diesel to grind some corn and today I got the WD's crank pulley back on after replacing the front crank seal and then put the radiator back on with new hoses and hose clamps and filled up with coolant, with no leaks and started it back up. Thought it would be neat to see what everyone else got done, either good or bad. |

You did pretty good. I went to WI to pickup rims and tires for the WD45 and got those put on, then put the half tracks back on it. Did some rearranging, put 4 tractors in one garage, 5 in the other and stuck 9 outside for the winter. Wife says quit buying tractors so I can afford to build a pole shed. Probably good advice.

I disk-chisled for about 2 1/2 hours with the 7580. Found an oil leak, the pin holding one of the 3 pt. arms fell out and there was some antifreeze coming out of the overflow after I shut down. Projects for tomorrow I guess.

I found out why my D14 wasn't getting much gas to the carb. Took apart the fuel line and sediment bowl assembly to find a lady bug plugging things up. Cleaned it up and put everything back together. Runs like a top now, and put it in the barn for winter. |

I baled manure for about an hour and a half total the whole time I was home for thanksgiving on my 7000. Blew the hydraulic hose off the steering line right after coming in off the road (fortunately). It was one I had made at tractor supply about 3 months ago before leaving to come to college, and the guy who put it together hadn't crimped the ends all the way, so the hose just popped right out. Well, they didn't have any new fittings in that size to recrimp on my hose, so they took the hose back and gave me a refund. Ended up paying double what I had originally paid for that one at NAPA ($60 at NAPA....), but it's put together correctly and if it lasts for 30+ years, that extra $30 is well spent. Now I'm back in Philly at school and away from the farm... life sucks again. :-/

Working on the D 10 III I recently bought. It has been running well and all of a sudden will crank but then quit firing and cut off. As I keep looking it over I find a lot of cobbling, rung off bolts, etc. Mostly cosmetic. Hope to have it ready for spring gardening.

I finished up my model of the AC one-way and posted pics here and updated my website so I am still in the AC world. :>) Reading the comments about getting things ready from winter reminded me of having to take the batteries out of 7 restored tractors, charging them and then moving them to the basement for the winter (while we were here in AZ) then reversing the job when we got home in the spring. I miss the tractors and shows, but can't say I miss getting ready for winter. A whole lot easier to just pour a glass of ice tea and lounging on the patio watching the crazy golfers go by. Must be getting lazy too!! :>) Armand

Had the 160 out for a few hours on Saturday. Cleaned up the driveway a bit, scraped the gravel back in the potholes. Warming her up a bit, charged the battery and ready in case it snows this winter. Maybe if I'm ready it won't snow!

Getting close to completing the rehab on my parts D12. Got the brakes, seals, clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing and carrier replaced. Fabbed up new seat/battery pan and rock shaft supports/bushings and installed a new after market seat. Got it fired up and expect to replace the ignition wiring before I can tune it in. Will be running it without fenders (they went on my other D12 rehab) until I can get around to fabbing up some new ones for it. Should be able to park it in the storage shed by the weekend, as my goal was to get it into running condition before winter set in. Next summer will work it pretty hard to determine if I need to pull the head and rework the valves.
Just brought my CA (use for mowing as it has a nice Woods L306) into the shop for brakes, seals and hand clutch repairs. Will probably replace some tin (hood and tool box) while it is in the shop.

Used the slip scoop on the wd45 to take gravel from am an old railroad bed and put it on a muddy spot on the lane by the woods. Father in law used his CA with a blade to spread it around. Free rock and got to play in the mud... My kind of fun!

Bought a bigger trailer today so we can take our car with us to Florida and take both the G and D-10 to shows. I think we will leave a couple weeks earlier this year.

Also had a great AC weekend! Got the loader off the '51 WD with a bad motor, and used my '48 WD to get it into the shed. The '48 runs awesome! I love being able to throttle clear down and hear the motor purring along. Got to do a little hard pulling with it moving the tractor when we tried to turn sharp a couple times. VERY nice tractor - I don't think it was ever used a whole bunch, or it's been rebuilt at some time. Getting my homemade SC blade fixed up for snow moving duty and will set up the loader to where I can put it on mid-winter if we get a bad snow. Really want to set it up with a multi-bank valve to where I can run the front and rear hydraulics separate. Maybe next year... Need to find a good place to mount that valve too.

Combine wouldn't start, got the skidsteer put back together, had my F150 catch fire on the brake master cylinder, then found out the switch was recalled because it can start a fire. (Go figure) Watched my buddy brush hog about 3 acres of sweet corn stalks with his Massey Harris 101 Jr. Cleared a couple patches of small trees and brush with the skidsteer. All in all, I spent more time wrenching on the skidsteer and cussing at my truck than anything else.

It was a nice weekend here, but I decided to take it easy and see if (what I now think is) a pinched nerve will heal itself....been over 2 weeks now. I thought it was just a pulled muscle in my shoulder, but then it moved to my right arm...probably did more harm than good trying to work it out for two weeks. Talk about "stir crazy"!

Had to jump the 8070 with pickup about 10 times. Using it on grain cart. Finally took a close look at battery cable ends. Totally croroded. Shined them up with wire brush on electric drill. Now she spins over nice and fast. Amazing!
