Allis C Implements Questions

   I am looking for opinions on what folks here prefer for a plow on an Allis C.  I am working on collecting implements for my '45 C and am not certain what would be better.  Do you find it more useful to have a tractor mounted plow made for the Allis C or a trailer plow that can be hooked up to the drawbar?  Advantages, disadvantages? 

Also, what would be a reasonable price for rear mounted cultivator assembly for the same tractor.  Includes three shovels, shovel mounting bar, depth adjustment lever, etc. (not sure on my terminology yet so I apologize in advance if I've used the wrong names for things).

	I think what you are talking about is what we always called a "layoff plow". We used it on the 1950 C to lay off rows for hand-planting. Also worked well with the 80 series cultivators to plow out the little strip left in the middle when cultivating(and your tire tracks). I never really thought about it, but I suppose different tools were available to mount on the bar, including cultivator sweeps, or ganged chisel point harrows to cultivate with the rear instead of the front.

	We always used ganged chisels on the 80 series cults. with one tool bar instead of the double tool bar and shovels. Less time changing out. Dream.

	Once you have a cultivator set up, the sky (and your imagination) is the limit as to what you can do with it. For example: The mounted plow isnt that hard to attache and neither are the cultivators. The same cultivator bracketts can also used for cultivating, attaching planters, attaching hillers, potatoe diggers etc. etc. the same lift can be used to lift a small disk or small set of drags. 	Also nice to have a drawbar like the one you can see to the right of the rear plow frame in the above picture. This lets you pull drag harrows, unmounted plows, flail mowers(be careful if you try the bush-hog, no live PTO! Will push tractor after you push clutch in!), and anything within weight and HP class you can hook up. We have modified some old 3 point implements to bolt up to the lower lift arms(where the rear tool bar bolt up). Grass rakes and smaller implements.

	Guys, Wow. I clearly have a lot to learn. That's exactly the kind of info I was looking for. Dream- that photo you posted is the exact assembly I'm trying to purchase. I've been quoted $100 for the whole thing. Seeing everything that goes into it makes me think $100 is a pretty good deal. I do have a drawbar. It came with the tractor when I bought it so I guess I'm one step on the way. Could I bother you to post another photo from the rear of the tractor so I can try to get a better idea how it all goes together? Brian- glad to hear it's not that difficult to hook up the Allis plow. Thanks for the info guys!!

	I picked up a set (or what I thought was a set) of cultivators this weekend for my C. I got all excited and bought the whole lot, but when I got home and sorted out all the pieces I noticed that I have sort of a mish-mash of parts. I have the rear tool bar with cultivators as shown in the photo above, and the "frames" for the mid-mount cultivators, but on one of the frames there are cultivators and on the other are discs. I believe I'm missing a disc and a cultivator sweep, but what I'm really wondering is why would a guy have discs on one side of the tractor and the cultivators on the other? Has anyone else seen this set up? If a guy hooked the up on the tractor like that would he move from left to right across the field or right to left? In other words, do you lead with the discs and follow with the cultivators or vice versa?

	Hard to tell for sure, but my bet is that someone was just using one side at a time in a garden. Also, it seems that there are very few cultivators that are sold as a true "complete set". I have parts of three sets, and I still don't have everything I need to make one decent set for my C.

	I had a C with 2 way plows on it yrs ago that was alot of fun to plow with .I want to set up our C we have now with a set they did a nice job and you don t see the alot.They would be great to take to a plow day
