I bought a real late model 7045 this spring to cover for the 7060 Power shift that we are rebuilding. I used it to mow some hay and after an hour or so the Trans Pressure light would flicker. It flashes when you use the clutch or shift the P/D which I understand to be normal. Not sur ewhat to thinl.

Replace the transmission and differential filters, the light shouldn't flash above 1800 rpm.

The wire leading to the sending unit, is also known to get shorted to the chassis, and the early stages of a short is an intermitant short. I would put a set of test guages on it, to veryfy what you are seeing, but the light is there for a filter reminder as well.

With hot oil the lube light will stay on more and will flash more often. With these tractors being 30 years old and the transmissions gerotor pump not being 100%, you'll have some lube pressure lights that may stay on above 1800 rpm with HOT oil.....cold oil and the light goes off like it should. Keep the transmission full of oil and you'll be fine. Many tractors the light doesn't even work because the bulb is burned out !!!

Remember 1800 on tack might only be 1600 on engine because alt pully wears belts wear. The alt. being the smaller of all the pulleys, a little wear will cause the alt. to run faster causing the tack to show more RPMs. MACK

Just out of curiosity, why was the 1800 mark chosen for the light? I know it's the same for my 7000 which has a completely different hydraulic set up. Was it just chosen to be a number a little under rated rpms?

Thanks for all the wisdom. We won't sweat it too bad just do the maintenance things mentioned. The Light for the filter on my Power Shift tractor would flash on at times and never caused a problem. I found the culprit when we removed the Fuel tank on the left side and found the wire rubbed/pinched. RW
