    Posted: 28 May 2011 at 9:31pm
Fixing up the 7040 to use as a planter tractor next year and noticed excessive play in the two hydraulic remote levers.  They both have about 3" of free travel.  In fact, so much free travel that they will not detent in float position (lever hits front of slot in console preventing detent).  I took the side cover off the console and the ball/socket and clamps are in good shape and not loose.  Cables appear to be in good shape also.  Is there a linkage adjustment on or near the valve spool end of the linkage, or what else could be the problem back there?  Thanks for any help

Replace both levers and pins that connect to the spools.

Thank you.  Those levers on the spool seemed very loose but I didn't have a lot of time today to further investigate.

Thanks again!
