I have a wd with a late style trans. It locked up in gear. Hapened once before. I got it loose by taking the lever out and lining up the openings where the lever goes. Can't get it to do that this time. Been stuck for a year now.

Is it possible there is a bind on the tranny, like the tractor wants to move, and the wheels are holding it back, i.e. do you push the clutch in while trying to move the forks?
Other possibility is the rails are rusted, my 17 was missing the rubber boot, meleted in a fire, and water ran in the shift tower, and put just enough rust on things to freeze the shifter. Taking the shift tower off the 45 isn't too big a job, so that would be my next step. My best guess is that's your problem, but it could be something broken as well, in either case you have to take the top off the tranny.

Fields - If you got the tower off and all is correct(The shift lever works properly and nothing is bent). Take the shift lever and shift it in reverse. Align the shift collers so the trans is in reverse. Then just carefully reinstall the tower. Drop in a couple of bolts and test by turning one of the rear wheels.
