Well not exactly, actually the fan on my D17 hit my radiator. I had come to a stop on an slight uphill incline with a sprayer behind the tractor. Engaged the brakes and as I was getting ready to step off, the brakes came free. I quickly sat back down and in braking ended up only hitting one brake. Anyway, in the excitement and coming to a quick stop, one of the fan blades nicked my radiator up top so I had anti-freeze spraying everywhere. I can't figure out how one fan blade could nick the radiator. Everything seems tight with no movement. Something has to be loose however. Any ideas other than only stopping on level ground?

Check for cracks/flex on the blades...one might be getting ready to break off.

Well either the fans a tad loose or the rad is.....
Maybe that one blade was a bit bent ???
Fan not sitting square on shaft ???
just thinking out loud....

I'd check the fan bearings, or water pump shaft if that's what the fan is attached to. I once had a Silver King with worn fan shaft bearings and the fan made a nice round imprint on the radiator core and bored through half of the tubes.
Most likely the radiator and hood moved just enough from the impact to catch a blade.

Had my 45 throw a blade yrs ago.Got seven tubes on the recent recore.OUCH!

Geeze, Hans... I just pulled the radiator on my Ser 1, and there didn't seem to be any really 'tight' clearance points... the cracked blade shouldn't be a hard thing to see... so I guess the next thing I'd look at, would be the front bolster bolts and then the framework... mebbie the front engine mount bolts. Obviously something shifted... but from what I saw on mine, it'd take a lot of shifting in order to cause a problem...
