Are the side shields under the hood factory or some home made job? I was planning on taking them off. They look a little junky to me lol...

Never seen anything like them. Is that a 35? Lots of alterations over
the years. Mine has a starter and will keep it. I am looking to put
headlights on it and have the battery box. I did use a genny instead of
alternator. LOL Oh yea, the gas tank decals and the triangle logo are a
little too new for a WC. Looks like you are years ahead of where I
started out.

Well, she has had some modifications at some point in the past, Going to say they were added on. Kinda reminds me of the Allis side shields for corn pickers, with the exhaust tip thing on there. Or maybe off a power unit.
Also looks like it has WD manifold?

your hood and radiator are correct. early 35 and before have the straight hood and straight raised line on the hood. Paint runs below not factory.

I pulled all the electrical stuff off. Getting the hood off next. I didn't want to scrap the side sheilds till I knew what they were. Hope to repair the hood next week and get a bellhousing so I can put my other engine in it. Still looking for a few parts. Gotta get some more cash together. Looking totrade these rims for a set of steel wheels. I want a tractor on steel and I think this one would fit the bill nicely.

Look at a mounted cornpicker book. Those are adapters so styled WC, WD, WD45 side shields work with unstyled tractor. Might have to look in the parts section at the back of OP manual. Notice the exhaust shield on the left for side exhaust pipe.

Actually, I like seeing some of the modifications that have been made to tractors over the years to make them more convenient or functional. Those shields served a purpose and should probably stay on the tractor. You can always see the "perfect/correct" tractor but you can't always see some of the very interesting inovations.

I just noticed the gear shift knob, it looks like its smaller than normal and tapered.
I think my RC has a knob like that too, were these original?

I think what you are seeing is the bronze thread insert from the center of the knob. A lot of the old WC's had the knob deteriorate and fall off.

My shifter knob is gone. Looks like the insert is still there but nothing else. Don, the pictures didn't come up for me here. I will check back later.
