Watch em on the half price sale...last year I bought a bunch and when they told me the amount I about fell over...fortunately I had bought one of the filters a month before so the regular price was fresh in my mind. The sale price was just a few cents less...I asked what kind of sale is it when you double the price and then give me half off?? The salesman does some tapping on his keyboard and came up with less than half the original price. I learned to be real careful at NAPA....they have a lot of different pricing levels and will use the one that they think they can get away with.

Check your prices against this web site to see if the price is as low as others in your area on NAPA and Wix filters. Check out the link below.

Napa gold filters are made by Wix. Fram filters are some of the poorest constructed. Cut one open and see for yourself.

I have been using Napa oil filters for decades with good results. I participate in their spring filter sale. Im a big believer of having the filter readily available for proper oil change intervals. If for some reason(sell or trade a vehicle or farm equipment) I end up with excess filters, they take them back and credit me. My local Napa store gives me a business account discount (30-40%) if I purchase over $500 a year. I use the napa weblink to determine proper part number, then call in my orders. Another Napa store in another close town never offers a discount on their pricing even if I ask. I don't go there much. I think they do most of their business through specific customer with higher volumes or insurance work? I never see any common customers at that store.

Yes you have to watch NAPA on prces and accounts, I bought 2 thermostats for my 427 in C60 GMC/ per say dealer discount price as I left the store noticed a price tag on box from off the shelf - I paid $2.00 more per unit than sticker said .. Back into store and a little ticked on deal , re-prced them using proper code and were $2.00 less per unit than sticker. Only $8.00 overcharge ..LOL

My grandpa owned a NAPA store from 1969 to 1989. I grew up NAPA brainwashed. Lets just say, They aint what they used to be. Local one here has a good stock but I don't believe the guys behind the counter any farther than I can throw them. I have corrected the manager a couple of times in front of a crowd. Seems the underlings give me alot of yes answers now. The one in town is part of a repair shop/used car dealership. That is the only thing keeping them open. Alot of people including me go there begrudgingly because they got a good stock of parts. Other 2 places in town always got to order it.
And Curt in IA. Yeah I think their filters are alright. just not my preference. I am a Baldwin guy.

We sell Wix filters where I work. I have even been to the factory for classes. The regular Wix , Napa Gold and I think Carquest calls there best one Blue are all the same. The old Allis filter that gave Wix a bad name a few years ago is gone. It was replaced by part # 57011 in Wix, 7011 in Napa and I think Carquest is 87011 and it is made like they had been for years and years and they work fine on the older AC tractors. The 3 brands are all made on the same line. I asked if there were any differences other than the label. They said the only difference was the label. The Carquest Red, the Napa Silver, the Wix Pro-Tec are imported but I have cut open the Pro-tec filters and they actually look pretty good inside. I have also cut open Fram from wally world and some of them don't even have metal in them. At the factory classes they didn't name any names pointing out bad filters on the market until they got to K&N. They said it had to be the worst of the worst when it came to air filters. They even had a K&N demo setup and they showed us how K&N could make their filter look good. If you ever have an engine go down and it has Wix filters on it just send them in to Wix and if they think the filter might have caused the problem they will pay up. They have a couple guys that work in a little room there that just test filters people have sent in. If you need filters go to fmsfilters.com. That is the website for where I work and I am the parts manager there. We sell Wix at about half the blue book price everyday and we give free shipping on orders of only $150.00 or more. You can go to the website and check pricing or call me at 888/868-5891 or email me at j.proffitt@froedge.com. Actually filters are only one of the items we sell. We sell all kinds of bearings, seals, belts, chain, sprockets, etc.etc. Now I will rest the old fingers.JP
