And Balloon Pilot!!!

Matthew Henry Fahrendorf was born this morning at 4:54 am, 6lbs 13 oz and 20 inches.  He surprised us at 36.5 weeks as the c-section was scheduled for March 28th.   My wife Cindy and Matthew are doing fine.  Given he was 3+ weeks early, they are keeping in the NICU to give him oxygen and keep a close eye on him since his lung were not quite mature.   Initially they said he was doing so well he could go the regular nursery but they decided to err on side of caution and send him to NICU.  This is very standard and expected for a boy 3 weeks early.  He should be out of NICU in a few days.  He checked out great otherwise by the doctors.

I'm getting a little too old to do this at 45 (and Cindy is 41).  But God works in wondrous ways and we picked the name Matthew because it means "God's Gift".  I sure hope he keeps me young like everyone has been telling us.  It sure throws a wrench into the retirement and college savings plans given my other 2 boys (Lucas and Ethan) are 10 and 6.

Here's a pic from the OR when he was about 15 minutes old.  Too bad you can't see me smiling behind the mask.  Of course I'm smiling because of my new son AND I can start looking for another Allis tractor for him!!!!  Mike

Mike, Congratulations to you and Cindy! I'll bet you can't wait until he is old enough to go out to the farm with you and his brothers.

congrats Mike to you and the wife.   My mom and dad had me at 43 and 44.   They thought I was a tumor at first!!!   I better not let my wife see this as she keeps wanting another and I say we're too old to do this again!!

CONGRATS Mike and Cindy. Take that blue cap away and get an orange one! LOL  My Granddaughter was born (a year ago) 4.5 weeks early.  Went through all that too, but she is doing great now and I just got a 'C' that she can drive when she gets old enough. Grandchildren are 'Parents Revenge'...   God bless you all.

Congratulations Mike & Cindy.  Now you will have to go shopping for a larger basket for your balloon.  We had a new granddaughter the Saturday after the Great Blizzard hit Central Missouri.  Hope to see the whole family at Boonville this fall.  Ron

Congratulations, Mike! Don't worry about having him at your age. We had our first and only child, a son, when I was 48! He's now 6 years old. Sure, he wears me out most of the time, but I couldn't imagine life without him.
