    Posted: 18 Feb 2011 at 9:23pm
Im going to try to quiet my cab down on my 7060. Im going to put a cab kit in it since it doesnt have one at all now. Ive filled the front consol with foam, is there anything else I can do for it? It has carpet, and ive thought about a rubber floormat, and have thought about using a spray or paint in sound deadener on the inside of the cab. Right now I can't even hear the radio. Does anybody have ideas or suggestions?

Put some of this under your floor mat.  http://www.b-quiet.com/vcomp.html

It's similar to what we used under the floor mat of the 8000 Series.

For even better results, put some of this down first.  http://www.b-quiet.com/dynamat.html

First things first.  Put a cab kit in it!
These tractors were known for having the quietest cab in the industry at the time.

Install new rubber cab mounts under the floor and on the rear axle.

I have used a couple of different field methods depending on type of noise,a rattling sharp clang i start driving wood wedges in where rubber cab mounts are if this reduces noise i would suspect mounts if it is bleed through of rpm, turbo, exhaust, etc. i start using insulation what ever i can find Styrofoam, insulated foil house wrap, great stuff in gaps etc.

Ive looked at the dynamat but didnt know where I could put it. Ive heard that the cab kits improve it a little but don't understand how since most of my noise is from the engine and the cab kit focuses more towards the back. Im sure it could use new cab mounts too, I get vibration noises too. I understand though that this is a 35 year old tractor and it wont sound like a new one.

Without a cab kit, there is nothing to insulate the sound of the engine in the cab.  What I mean is, the sound of the engine emanates through the entire metal chassis of the tractor.  Even on an open station tractor, put your ear up to the fender and you can clearly hear noise in it from the engine.  But if you put a jacket between your ear and fender, the noise will not be as noticeable.  A cab kit would work in the same way.

True, a cab kit will not eliminate all of the noise, but it will definitely help.

There is sound deadening material that goes between the firewall and dash too. Insulation on each side and foam rubber perpendicular to the steering column.

I went into agco today with a list of parts and one of them was the front cowl seal on the cab, and it was no longer availiable. Does anyone know where I could get an aftermarket one?

Here's one web site that sells some AC cab kits:

Harold Electric Co. ( HECO ) has some AC cab kits and separately sells some of the Sound Deadening Materials you may be looking for?:

Might could use some of the Heat/& noise damping materials on HECO site above to glue underneath the sheet metal above and around tractor engine?

I also found a (rare)  AC Cab kit for my AC170/175 at:

On the remaining exposed metal inside cab, I had always wondered about the sticky-spray on insulation used on steel buildings, but it would have to be covered with material or it would get all over you...ha!....(or just pad/cover everything like some did during the 'hippy-days' inside their vans/cars)

I have been saving cab sites,  and hope to put a cab on my AC175 soon.  Keep me posted and send me some photos and comments, for my education too!  LOL!
