D17 wiring

   We have a series 3 gas that has an alternator on it and found that the previous owner had the exciter wire from the alternator hooked up to hydraulic oil pressure light (and left the wire disconnected for the oil pressure circuit). Where should this wire really connect so the alternator will charge properly? Thanks, John
