I'm surprised they didn't just move to SA, that's where they sell the tractors. I just can't imagine the European market that big, even with eastern Europe and Russia. I also can't imagine them selling all that much in NA but I'm happy they made that decision because it means another 100 jobs at the plant and who knows how many new jobs for suppliers. Now, if they just decided to make orange ones there....

Should help the economy of that area a little -- that is a good thing regardless of color. you would think with that fancy "in line" painting system that they could put orange paint in for a couple runs in between red and yellow.

I would guess those are the big MF and Challenger tractors there going to be making like the DT series. I would imagine that they sell most of them in the US. Expanding their plant here makes sense as I'm sure our parts and labor as similar to the cost in Europe and it may not be running at full capacity for Challenger tracked tractors or whatever else they make there. But, this all would have made sense years ago. I'm glad their doing it but why now? I think that they fear that the dollar may be devalued and that would make the cost to import tractors from Europe very high.
I know JD's, of that size, are made entirely in the US and I believe NH/Case NH are as well. |

I assume that they would probably bring in the transaxles in from France in containers and the engines in from Finland and source the rest in the US and assemble it all in the MN plant.

I am about 30 minutes north of Jackson and have been to that plant, they have a huge operation down there especially considering the size of the town....regardless of brand at least they are committed to American-built tractors. Has been and will be a nice boost to the economy which is poor at best in this part of the country.

Hmmm. A yellow tractor being built in Minnesota again. Maybe a person can look at it kinda squinty eyed and pretend it is a Minnie Mo!
