Dave , thanks for the post , Yes it seems many have forgotten this day and the meaning of the struggle for Freedom. Here in the Us right up to the time of Pearl Harbor we had the America First movement willing to let the British Empire stand alone against the movements of Fascist so called governments wanting to enslave the world.
A little island in the midst of turmoil stood out as a bastion of freedom to the world. It took the attack on Pearl Harbor to awaken the Sleeping Giant, to unite America, and to bring sanity back to people of what happening within the full globe and not in their small part of the countries they lived in.
We here in the US, least some of us remember the struggle you all on that side of the pond put up for so long by yourselves in stopping the Nazi move to enslave all of Europe, Africa, Mid East, Indonesia, and Pacific region. For Japan also on Dec 7 (Dec 8 pacific time) launched attacks against British forces in pacific.
Guess we need Brian Rees to update our history for us at times, but your post does also.

Happy Birthday, Dave. Thanks for reminding us about Pearl Harbor. Not a word about it on the network "news" today, but plenty about the worthless "stars" and "celebrities" that the Entertainment Tonight crowd worships. Our veterans and men and women serving in our armed forces are the real heroes.
Just an old country boy saved by the grace of God.

Happy birthday to ya',Dave! Today is also my mom's birthday, whom would have been 79 years old. And...you're also right about too many people that have already forgotten about it! I was just telling a co-worker and a good friend of mine that it was a shame that on the desk calendar in my office it showed Revolution Day (observed) in Mexico, but couldn't even mention Pearl Harbor Day! I was thinking..."what kind of bulls@#t is this"! Sorry, but that just ticked me off quite a bit. I've got one uncle left that was in World War II and he's 86. I would like to thank him and all of the other veterans for fighting for our country,so that we are able to do the things that we sometimes take for granted.  Rick

Happy Birthday Dave. I'll never forget the day either, it is mine and my Dad's birthday today too. It was always instilled in me from a young age by my Dad and grandfather about Dec 7, Pearl Harbor Day, how important it was. I always take time to reflect on the day and what happened back in 1941. Thank you to all the folks who faught, served, and are still serving today. Remeber those who gave the untimate sacrifce.

In honor of Pearl Harbor day, I blew up a Toyota. Amazing how many pieces you can make with a stick of dynamite.

Thanks to all our veterans past and present.  I wish my dad were still here so I could thank him in person for his sacrifice.  It took him a year and a half to get home after he left Okinawa on a stretcher.  I think about him  especially when I see seniors driving Toyotas with american flags plastered on their bumpers.

First, Happy Birthday Dave!!!  Many Many More
Second, Pearl Harbor day is a very special day in our history.  I know people are forgetting it but to one who lived through it and WWII it was a very special time.  Yes, there were shortages and rationing but the country was UNITED as I have never seen it.  Everyone did their bit to "Fight the WAR".
Thanks to all who participated.  Our "Greatest Generatiion"
Good Luck!
