I saw an ad online for a B that ran when parked three years ago.  His asking price was $350.  The picture clearly shows an IB.

I emailed the guy and told him that I would buy it based on what I see in the ad with CASH.  I asked where and when could we meet.  He emailed me back and said that I was the first to contact him, but he couldn't understand all the emails for an old non-running tractor with rotten tires.

I replied back with "everything"; the whole story if you will.  That it was actually an IB, that even in poor shape it is worth at least twice his asking price, probably more.  I broke down the production numbers and so on.  I said I was interested in restoring it and that I wasn't going to flip it or part it out.  I let him know that even though I wanted an IB, I wasn't going to take advantage of someone to get one.  Then, I said if he felt he needed more money based off what I told him, I would like first crack at buying it.  I haven't heard back.  Any bets on what the outcome will be?
And yes--I realize that I am nuts for putting this out to a bunch of other Allis nuts before the deal is done.

You are not nuts, just honest to a fault. Just hope the seller will consider that and give you the first crack at it.

That has nothing to do with being honest.
You would of done nothing dishonest for giving him what he was asking.
Sorry but you are now nuttier than me and I'm nuts.

UPDATE: Karma is a wonderful thing!  I just got my reply!  He said that he should have done his research, but will honor the $350 asking price and the tractor is mine pending payment.  He will also gladly take more money (which I plan to give him).  Looks like I may have to move some things around in the shop, but I have room for at least two more little ones in the garage! LOL

Honesty always pays no matter what, just a question of when.

But speaking of honesty, it looks like you really have room for at least 8-10 more tractors in that garage.  :-)

Now the next time you find a deal keep your mouth shut.
If you had a tractor for sale for $300.00 and didn't know what you had and it turned out to be a WD-45 diesel I would give you the money and that would be that.
I would also sleep very well that night knowing I did nothing dishonest.
Good Luck with The IB.

Sometimes an honest man is hard to find!  A great find and I'm glad you got (will get) a neat little tractor.
I remember reading about a roofer that came to give an estimate on a widow's home somewhere in California.  She told him there was some shingles in the barn that matched the house.  When he went in he found the shingles and a '67 Shelby Mustang with 800 miles on it.  He asked the woman about it and was told it had belonged to her son who had bought it just before shipping off to Viet Nam.  Of course he didn't come home.  She kept the car to remember him and her husband who had died shortly before her son.  She was getting up in years and told the man if he would reroof her house and repair the barn roof he could have the car in trade.  He told her he would have to ask his wife first.  I guess he had a hard time sleeping that night.  The next day he went back to see the woman and told her he couldn't do the trade because the car was worth much more then the roof but he would like to do the roof and pay $10,000 extra.  She said her son only paid $7,000 for it and it was nearly 30 years old so she would sell it to him for the roofing and $5,000, the roofing estimate being $2000.  Sure, he could have gotten the car for the cost of roofing materials but I doubt he would have slept well for quite a while afterword.

JohnCO, your story reminds of an old song "Riding with Private Malone". Here are the lyrics.
I was just out of the service thumbing through the classifieds
When an ad that said:"Old Chevy" somehow caught my eye
The lady didn't know the year,or even if it ran
But I had that thousand dollars in my hand

It was way back in the corner of this old ramshackle barn
Thirty years of dust and dirt on that green army tarp
When I pulled the cover off,it took away my breath
What she called a Chevy was a sixty six Corvette

I felt a little guilty as I counted out the bills
But what a thrill I got when I sat behind the wheel
I opened up the glove box and that's when I found the note
The date was nineteen-sixty six and this is what it wrote:

He said,"My name is Private Andrew Malone"
"If you're reading this,then I didn't make it home"
"But for every dream that shattered, another one comes true"
"This car was once a dream of mine, now it belongs to you"
"And though you may take her and make her your own"
"You'll always be riding with Private Malone"

Well it didn't take me long at all,I had her running good
I love to hear those horses thunder underneath her hood
I had her shining lika a diamond and I'd put the rag top down
All the pretty girls would stop and stare as I drove her through town

The buttons on the radio didn't seem to work quite right
But it picked up that oldie show, especially late at night
I'd get the feeling sometimes,if I turned real quick I'd see
A soldier riding shotgun in the seat right next to me

It was a young man named Private Andrew Malone
Who fought for his country and never made it home
But for every dream that's shattered, another one comes true
This car was once a dream of his, back when it was new
He told me to take her and make her my own
And I was proud to be riding with Private Malone

One night it was raining hard,I took the curve too fast
I still dont remember much about that fiery crash
Someone said they thought they saw a soldier pull me out
They didn't get his name, but I know without a doubt

It was a young man named Private Andrew Malone
Who fought for his country and never made it home
But for every dream that's shattered, another one comes true
This car was once a dream of his, back when it was new
I know I wouldn't be here if he hadn't tagged along
That night I was riding with Private Malone
Oh,thank God,I was riding with Private Malone

You did good Ryan. This is a perfect reason why this board example of why this board is so popular. Character, honesty, and integrity are good and are becoming harder to find in this country. Most people on this board still have tons compared to others in this country.

You know,  I am sitting on my computer at the start of the day.  A story like this has "made my day".  Yes honesty always pays and is much better in the long run.  Interesting IB.  Cannot remember seeing one with this type of blade on it.  Look forward to better pictures.

Hey, nice looking garage.  Especially what is inside it.
Good Luck!

Nice find.

What's the SN?

Seems like a lot of IB's have been appearing around in the $600 - $1400 range lately.

Cheap enough, you could afford to put a NOS pintle hitch on it.... LOL

Ryan, congratulations. Glad you will be getting the IB. Honesty and character do pay off but are getting harder to find. Nice looking shop. You have room for several more tractors in there.
