Why would they have built it with no PTO?

Tractors used on construction sites had no need for a PTO or three point hitch. Some large farms in the west only used them as a drawbar tractor. They didn't need a PTO either.  PTO was always OPTIONAL, not standard equipment.

I remember the term “Bareback” was used for a tractor with only a drawbar.
It's the color tractor my grandpa had!

I understand that many areas/applications have no need for a PTO, but I would bet that at some point in its 50-60 yr. life, the PTO would have been used if it had it.

I had a 1968 with pto but no 3pt.  Got it used, worked for me, did use the pto on pull type combine.  The next tractor I got had 3 pt as starting some row crops.  Wish I could get one now for what I paid in 1971, 3  years old, 800 hours, $6050.
