    Posted: Yesterday at 9:39am
My external hydraulic lift cylinders are stuck out (won't collapse after being removed from tractor) and local shop said it might get pretty expensive to fix them since they are struggling with heat to get them apart. I located some cylinders for sale off of a 190XT and they appear to similar. All measurements provided from the 190XT cylinders were the same as the D17 cylinders except the cylinder length from the 190XT cylinders (and presumably the shaft length) were about 1.25" shorter. My D17 cylinders are 9.75" long while the 190XT cylinders are 8.5" long. Has anyone utilized the shorter 190XT external hydraulic cylinders on a D17 Series 4 and been pleased with the results? My concern is the shorter 190XT hydraulic cylinders will not raise the D17 lift arms enough to travel implements like my plows. Any thoughts or suggestions are much appreciated. Hope everyone is having a Merry Christmas!

Are you sure they're not stuck on a check ball (failsafe for burst hose perhaps)?

Not familiar with them but if they were functional prior to removal then they probably didn't just lock up.

I'm not sure when they were functional last. I bought the tractor with the hydraulic lift arms stuck up a year ago. Have never gotten the lift arms to go down. Tried the other suggestions I've read to lower the arms with no luck. Recently took the hydraulic cylinders off to see if they would collapse and the shafts will not move.
