I hauled a 180 diesel for a friend of mine that he just purchased. After unloading it, I began to look it over and noticed a hose from the radiator drain running up to a tee that screwed into the thermostat housing were the temperature sending unit normally resides. The sending unit was screwed into the front of the tee. So my question is why would this have been done? Tractor has a manifold and a block heater on it. Never had a cab. Any ideas?

Maybe it had a tank type engine heater on it in the past and that has been replaced with a block heater that fits into the block.  The tank type heater could have been plumbed into those two tees and they just connected them with a hose instead of putting the original fittings back in place..
