I found a set of 15.5-38 BFG tires paid nothing for them. They have good tread for pulling, however, they are very weathered. 5-6 lugs are seperating from the carcass, thought about finding some flat head screws and washer, go from the inside out and try to save them. Rest of the tire looks in tact but will they stay together? Hate to put them on the burn pile, can they be saved? I can also get a set of 15.5 goodyears cheap, but they arent a matched set. Any way of shaving the taller one down to match the other one? Or, should I get the nice pair of 14.9 28s on dual rims for $250 and try to run against the 38s. I thought if I went with the 14.9-28 I would widen the wheels to 15 or 16 inches to get the tires as wide as I can. What would you do? Save up a grand and buy some new Firestones? :) Thanks, JM

15.5 /38s makes first gear about 4 to 5 mile an hour depending on rpms. easy to know if you have enough power before going to them . can you pull second gear with stock tires? i would always go taller before going wider . what would you give for my 15.5s and rims?
