Looking for a carb kit preferably with both shafts choke not a necessity but do want the bushings and seals for both. I have checked the usual places but the part numbers on the carb doesn't come up in the listings...zenith 231914 or 12401A. I assume most are the same but I sure don't want or need to order the wrong kit. I did try to use the search here just for topics and I can't get anything at all out of it, operator error most likely lol.

The basic carb is a 161J7..... That was used on the B-C then later on the D10 -12... Your specific carb was used on a D10 several years after the B went out of production... But the basic "body , bowl, float" is all the same... Jets and options might be a little different.
Here is a reference from Carb Page.... by years , then model, then carb design, then specific no... 2xxxxxxx. |

You might call these guys and make sure you get the right parts... also verify that you get the BUSHINGS... Many kits come with the shaft, but the seal / bushing is not always included..

Thank you for the reply, u say that the basic bowl, float etc are the same and the jets may be a little different so should I just order a kit for a b for the jets will be the right size or go with the carb numbers. I assume by the years maybe the jets may be to big or small, haven't look at a d10 or 12 are they just a newer version of the b? I had to drill a jet out so I don't have a number on it but I didn't see a number on it before hand either.

I dont know if they use a different main jet or not. It could be someone took a D10 carburetor and put a 1-2 size smaller jet in it for the B.. Or it could be that they just adjusted the needle valves a half a turn and that worked.. I really dont know.. Zenith sometimes added a drain valve or a different clamp on the choke lever and then gave that carburetor a different number.. Again, i just dont know...
The "KIT" above seems to be common for the B,C and D10 so they use all of those same parts. Appears right off the top that "ALL" internal parts are the same... I would call the Vendor and verify, but if you order a "B" or a "D10" kit... it appears you get the SAME PARTS.

The D10 replaced the B like 1958 or 59. Little bigger, enlarge the engine a little to get 139 cubic inches instead of 125.... 4 speed trans... a few other goodies... etc.

'B' production ended in 1956, 'D-10' started in 1959. and Allis took a 3 year break in production? I went ahead and ordered a kit from a well known place. I have a question that's not related to a carb or I don't think it is..the b tractor is listed to hav less horsepower than the c but the bore and stroke is the same and the carburetors are the same, compression on the b is slightly higher so I'm guessing the head and valves are the difference or is there something I'm not thinking of. Thanks again for the information on the kit.

The "B" went into production a couple years before the "C"... They have the same motors. The "B" continued to be built for 20 years... a few years after the C was replaced by the CA. ... Over the years there were several variations in the pistons to run on gas , kerosene, a mixture, etc.... You could have a compression ratio around 5 ( or slightly lower) up to about 7 :1 depending on WHAT YEAR your tractor is.... You cant compare a 1942 B to a 1950 C for that reason.....also the ENGINE GOVERNOR speed might have changed a couple hundred RPM over the years.
If you buy a "NEW KIT" with pistons / rings / liners ... you will probably get an OVER BORE kit that will fit the B, C or CA tractor motor.. and it will be slightly higher compression ratio than used 70 years ago..

Dont be such a jerk Gary... Whats your point ? The B stopped in 1956 and the D17 took its place in 1957 ? You believe that ?
I know you got a real HARD ON for my posts, but dont show your IGNORANCE... Everyone knows the SMALL tractor in the 40- 50s was the "B"... the the SMALL TRACTOR after that was the D10. If you want to make the argument that the CA was replaced by the D10 , that might have some validity....... but the POST was about a B... not the CA.

Some of these Carburetor kits give you a new throttle shaft and sometimes a choke shaft like the kit Steve shows. Some kits don't come with jets either. Jets are usually sold separately. The problem with that is it's the throttle bore that wears, not the shaft so much. I don't know of any kit that's going to give you bushings, because when I rebuild our customer's Carbs, it greatly depends on how bad the throttle bore is worn. Some worn throttle bores you can get by with a slight rebore, and add a Polyethelene sleeve on the throttle shaft, along with an oversize seal. This can make a nice sealed smooth working throttle. I've performed it many times. If the bore is really worn, then you drill the bore accordingly and press a custom made bushing or sleeve to accommodate the throttle shaft to make a nice clean repair. The bushing usually the rebuilder makes (like I do) custom to fit the rebore. The whole purpose is a smooth working throttle shaft that doesn't allow air to be drawn in through the throttle shaft area. When it comes to jets, its best to order the correct jet for the Carburetor part number. This way you keep the Stochiometric air/fuel ratio the same. If you're building a pulling Tractor, than sometimes because of engine modifications, the engine needs to ingest a little more fuel and you need to "fatten" the fuel mix a tic, that's another story. I would order the correct kit for that particular Carburetor. If it's been working all along on the Tractor well, don't reinvent the wheel... HTH Steve@B&B

Actually the shaft bushings on both felt tight the reason on replacing the throttle shaft is because it was broke and braZed back on at the rod from where the governor attaches, but I wanted just to replace it all bc I will sleep better at night lol.i hope the kit does come with the jets it appeared to in the pics it said complete kit. Thanks for the info I will check the other thing u mentioned I already forgot wat is was after writing this reply. And I'm sorry for the argument I caused hopefully it can be resolved
