"Never had that happen?" I'm surprised at that response. I've seen it more than once. And yes, the door "ain't workin". Only solution here is drain the tractor then pull the left filter and deal with the issue.
I learned to never trust the baffle. I remove the left cover ashort distance and give it a few seconds to see if the flow slows down before pulling it all the way out. If it doesn't, slam the cover back in and go to plan B. I use a fairly small pan when changing those filters. It's usually big enough when things go right, but when that door don't close it can overflow in just a short while.

definitely a messy job, but got it drained and I found this in the filter housing.
