Recently Sold my NOS 262D.
That's right 1966 vintage engine on the factory Pallet. I have been holding on to it to install in the perfect restoration but have changed direction from Allis collector to Allis farmer. What am I thinking ??? We have moved from Ga. Were I had lots of tractor storage area and not much land to my grandfather's farm near Pittsburgh Pa. were we have more farm land and much less storage. Somethings got to go. Sad day for me..... Edited by Macon Rounds - 08 Jan 2024 at 11:47am |

WOW !!.... Im wondering if they were bench tested prior to shipping.. That would explain the oil also... Probably had to drain and blow out the fuel pump.

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

Yes. All engines that were shipped from the Harvey engine plant were shipped with oil in them with the exception of some of the commercial products.
Being that it was shipped and strapped to a single skid indicates that it was a replacement engine that was shipped to a dealer.

It was in an add on Craigslist 15 or more years ago.
Children of a tractor guy were liquidating his estate. I have been keeping it safe and warm ever since. |

Any idea what the new owners plans are for it . I would think it is more valuable on a pallet for display than in a tractor. But I know there is plenty of need for a replacement engine.

That may have been the only NOS 262D in existence. I’ve never seen one ever up for sale.

Just curious as to what the market value would be on something like this… considering parts to rebuild a 262D are apparently super scarce and hard to find… I would love come across a NOS factory crate engine like that. Talk about A-C gold!!!

Also interested in the rocker arms on your NOS engine… they look different than the ones in my ‘57 D17 engine. (The lash adjusters don’t appear to have jam nuts… Newer style?? Never seen adjusters that look like those) |

Those are the newer style, self locking screws, for the valve lash adjustment. I'm not sure what year or model they were first used in.
