My new project
I can only see HD6E1 of the s/n. When I bought it I thought it was an HD6B It has the Buda 344 motor with push button starter It has a 5 truck bottom What makes it an E model and not a B model ? If anyone has a cast iron exhaust manifold from a 6000 motor or a good manifold from an HD344 let me know what you want for it. PS I have been on this website for years as Dozer this time I could not log in so I had to register again. |

Yes....looks to me like a B model...recessed floorboard....kind of looks like the hydraulic tank is of the right side of the seat....if it has the Lanova style Buda engine....that would be B model. Can you see the serial number on the back of the case...is there something mounted on the back? more pictures would be helpful.

For those early HD6 models
B model had 4 track rollers E model had 5 track rollers This was only difference in them. After 1961 at s/n 14484 major changes happened to the HD6E and i became a more 'deluxe' model with oil master clutch and wet backend with power controlled brakes and steering. The HD6B remained the same basic model with a dry backend. However it could be fitted with an optional oil master clutch and optional 5 roller track frame HD6EP also came out in 1961 with the same wet backend, and was powershift with torque converter

Thanks It had dry clutches with the Buda motor
I guess it is the 5 roller bottom that makes it an "E" The project is both steering clutches are frozen |

E was long track , the extra roller and longer truck frame .
Big difference in machine handling when grading with those extra pads on the ground . Smooth's out the choppy feeling of the short track |

All early HD6 had the fibre friction discs. After around s/n 14000 they all had the sintered bronze friction discs; these are much better, and rarely stick, slip, or break teeth off.
