I was unable to take pictures of my tractor at the show the weekend before last, forgot the camera, and it bothered me because I wanted you guys to see it in it's fancy clothes. So today was a pretty day and I decided to bring it to the house and put all of the little things that were on it at the show back on. This is exactly what it looked like at the show. It looks alot better than it did when we had to pull it out of a guy's yard with two rotted rims and no idea if it would ever run.
This time next year it should be ORANGE. AC is the feature tractor next year and my WC was the only unstyled one there.

That's a pretty straight looking tractor there Jeremy. Mine is almost that far along. I'm missing a good air cleaner and the fenders need some hammering. Mine is a 35 with all round spoke wheels and I have an original style seat on it but don't have that nice looking steering wheel and my hood has the straight up big farmer cut hole in it. Charlie

It had the round spoke wheels but they were shot and I can't find any around here for a decent price. It was a challenge and a half to hook the air cleaner up to the new carb that is for a newer WC.
I was lucky that it came with most everything and was in good shape body and engine wise. IT'S MY BABY!!
Does anyone know what the hole infront of the exhaust pipe is for. The water temp gauge has it's own hole but I can't think of nothing that would go there.

that hole was for the small, starter gasoline tank filler cap when they ran distillate in the main tank.
Nice looking 37. I saw it in person and the Oliver too. Lots of nice stuff at that show. I am sure Allis will make a big showing too.

The big hole with 3 little holes around it is for the gas tank. That was for starting only. The big tank in back was filled with distillate which was a byproduct of making gasoline and much cheaper. I don't know when they started putting thermostats in but originally there was a canvas flap that would be pulled up over the rad to get 190 deg so the fuel would burn.

There are a few around. I think it is the same tank that was used in the same location on the 'U' tractors.

AllisChalmers37, I have the starter tank on my '38 WC. Your tractor is one sharp-looking machine - it'll be glorious in PO#1!

I have the starter tank on my 35. Yours is pretty nice looking --- "Grey Ghost". I think the unstyled WC's are the coolest looking tractors.

The starter tanks were being reproduced at one time. I think there was a guy in Gilson,Il making them for a time. Anybody making new ones now????

I've got an aunt and uncle in Barbourville so I could make a weekend out of it between the show and visiting family.

If I was guessing I would say that it will be the first weekend in October again. Where Allis will be the feature tractor they get grouped in a section all to themself and they raffeled off a 8n pedal tractor(Ford was featured this year) So there will probably be something AC related for raffel.
I will be there with the 37 WC and the Oliver. My friend is buying a C and will bring it and his B that was there this year. That D14 would look good in our sea of orange.
Hope you can make it and thanks for the comments.

Jeremy, Lanse in Ohio is parting out his WC. He has a starter tank with a hole rusted in it. Would still look good for show, or, if you're the creative type, you could fix it. Check the for sale forum. He's got it on there.
Awesome job you're doing. Wish I had time to get my C that far along.

I was there with my two brothers for a few hours and then we went on down to visit the old family cemetery near Swiss Colony before we came back. About 7 hours driving for a few hours of show but we had fun. We just had the minivan, no tractor. We did not stop very long anywhere and it still took a while to see all the trucks and tractors.
Lots of nice stuff, your WC looked good even in primer. The Oliver was cleaned up good too. I would buy a tank like the one Lance has if you want to install just for looks. A cosmetic patch would hide the hole. I have seen a few actually plumbed but I doubt if anyone really uses them these days, they would just collect stale gas and cause trouble.

I've still got one onmy 38 unstyled. Plumbed in, correct carb and all. Of course, it leaks so is only there for cosmetic purposes.

I think it was either standard on the early ones or at least very common. The 1935 instruction manual for a WC talks about it in the starting procedure and shows illustrations of it as if it is common.

Great Job on your WC! I too have a '37 WC that came with starter tank, looks original, but don't know about options that were available. Hope mine looks like yours someday!
Were you able to do anything with the stainless steel muffler pipe I sent you? Intended to post a photo of how my son John fashioned my WC muffler, sometime!

Bruce, I have that pipe on my table. It is one of those things that I will eventually get to. I'm going to keep the one that is on it there until I can rig up a way of mashing that end.

I was digging around on my computer and found this picture of it just after we got it. You can see the rotted wheels and overall uglyness. I think it looks better now and the fact that it runs now and didn't in that picture is something esle as well. The WD45 decals that someone had cut the cut the D and fliped it to look like a C was killing me. The Power Crater decals and painted over grease didn't help either.
