It's been decades that we ran that set-up on WD/D series  tractors and "possibly" the Gleaner A combine. I know for sure we had to hook up jumper cables or battery chargers to them, but for the life of me I can't recall if it was "STILL" red-to-positive/black-to negative" ?? I do recall lots of sparks though EmbarrassedBig smile !! What's the proper method ?? Thanks

Others know more than I but, I have always hooked the red cable to the positive of a battery whether it be positive or negative ground. I think you’re gonna get in trouble if you hook the positive from one battery to the negative of the other.

Always positive to positive and negative to negative. If one is positive ground and the other is negative ground, make sure vehicles are not touching.
