Greg does nice work. Important factor in purchasing walk in tub . You have to buy the expensive one or you will sorry. Nice ones have oversized faucets that fill fast while you sit there waiting. Nice ones also have a pump that forces water out quickly while you wait for it to drain. Stainless steel square tubing for a frame. Last one I put in cost over 5 grand for the unit alone. They are also large and hard to get through doors. Insurance can help if a doctor signs off as medical equipment. Also if done Nice like Greg does these houses sell fast when the time comes.

When I built our house we installed a glass block walk in shower. No door to keep clean and you can put a shower stool and we have a hand held shower also

We have talked about getting a walk-in tub, but two things hold me back.

One is that it takes so much water. My cousin has an oversize tub that takes over 60 gallons. That is a lot of hot water! It would probably mean I would have to upgrade my water heater, also.

The other reason is I doubt we would use it. Several years ago, we remodeled one bathroom and installed a whirlpool tub. We rarely use it. We are thinking about removing it and replacing it with another walk-in shower (one with a very small step-up lip).

Considered one for Mother In Law, price was well above comfort zone so did not.  IF wife and I ever need such will set up entire bath as a Drive Thru Shower stall, eliminate any need of a Tub system where can roll wheel chair thru.

All it needs is a steering wheel and brake pedal.

My son bought a house that has one of those. Unfortunately, the house is only a one bath, 3 bed. He’ll take a beating on the price when he wants to sell, unless it is removed.
I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

Started this on Monday.  First cut the tile just above the new tub height, then remove all tile and old tub below that cut line. Then level the walk in tub setting on the subfloor.

Plumber hooks up the drain and water lines, after which I start filling in the old tub space.  Electrician comes and hooks up 2 circuits  and then its all up to me!   Fill in the tile and grout.  When done on Thursday:
