Good Evening.
I recently purchased a 1960's model D17 sesries IV and am curious as to the potential. I got it primarily for the PTO to run my grain auger. It is doing wonderfull. What other sizes of equiptment can i pull through the field with it? plow disk planter etc?
any info would be great. i don't want to try and end up damageing this piece of equiptment.
i live in north west ohio with easy soil and flat no terraceing or anything like that just flat.
thanks

I pull a 4 bottom plow with mine. It should also handle a 12 foot disc or field cultivator easily. You have arounf 52 horsepower at your disposal, so as you shop for implements and tools that is the number you are working with.

I totally agree with what John said unless you are are pulling that disc or FC in moldboard plowed ground.  Then it's a 10 foot disc or FC that's a good match.  Mike

Depends on the soil and the width of the plow bottoms. 4x12 maybe, 4x 18, I'm sure not with 52 HP unless its in sand. In my field no way unless in first gear. And I found that pulling a smaller plow faster I got more done and the plowing job was better.

My 1958 D17 does real well with a fully mounted 4x14 plow in 2nd low range in black dirt with some spots of blue clay. Although the engine doesn't lug I feel that 3x16 would be more comfortable and you could plow in 3rd high. But it is fun to go plowing 9" deep with a 4x14 and show up the 880 Olivers and 720 John Deeres.
