I'm considering selling my D14, but am afraid I have more money in it than what it's worth! I've done some searching and can't find any recent for sale ads with one in it to compare to, so I was hoping to pick your brains a little bit.
The good:
It was restored about 5 years ago or so. Engine was resleeved, new pistons/rings, new rod and main bearings, rebuilt head... she fires and purrs like a kitten.
Has good wheels and tires are 90+% on WD wheels (13.6x28). Sandblasted and repainted everything at restoration. Hi/Lo range works good. Has a rebuilt 6V starter w/new solenoid (last week). The rest is converted over to 12V neg. ground. Has 3 pt conversion. Tight seat. I'm probably forgetting stuff, but you get the point.

The bad:
It does jump out of 3rd, I never needed it so it's never been a problem. It don't have a drawbar or hanger. I put a new altenator on it at resto, but I never got it wired up to keep the battery charged. I've kept a battery maintence/charger on the battery after every use. One of the front wheels that I bought broke, so I have the original wheel back on it but it's not painted up pretty like the other one.

I have a set of cultivators for it. The ones that go on the side and the one that goes in the snap coupler that plows out the tracks. They are rusted up, but should be all there that I would let go with it.

I have a well over $4,000 tied up in it. I have all the receipts with what all was done to it. Is it worth what I have in it?
Just when I thought I was finishing my "honey-do-list", she turned the page!!!

To the right buyer that understands what you all did, yes.   But to most people, no.   It's a buyers market for everything right now, including tractors.   For $4000, someone could probably find a completely restored D14 with all the wiring working and no tranny issues.   I don't mean to be rude or anything, just looking at it from another point of view.   The set of cultivators help the price, but to sell it at what you're asking, I would at least try to get the wiring etc. all sound and finished, and maybe take a peek at the 3rd gear.   That could be a rough fix, or it could be just working the shifter.   That would definately make it worth what you're thinking it's worth.

I'd say that is the same story most of us have, it's hard to get what you put in them. I find it amusing that I buy a cheap tractor, add the missing parts and upgrade the options and adjust the price to hear, " I can buy them all day long cheaper than that" ! I ask them why are wasting my time then?
I gave 2900 for a WD45, no one else would have. He was a very old dear family friend, always their for any of my family. I knew he paid that for each of the parts he put on, 3pt, loader, p.s., wfe, wts., head, etc. He took payments and I've got my money back after using it a year or 2 and then by parting it out.
I think for over $4000. I can pick and choose a D14 and even buy one that wasn't advertised for sale.26" rears will be $$$ for someone to put on.  If was asking $4k I would find a drawbar first and wire it. I value sheet metal a lot more than a good motor(in common tractors). New paint normally has a negative value to me, so I may be biased. pics and sitting on it may be different

I want about half that for a wfe, p.s. D14 that needs paint, has 3pt, drawbar, transport valve, good metal, good wheels/tires, etc. , no 2nd gear(unless I do not how to adjust?).

That's exactly what I'm looking for... honest opinions. I appreciate any response that I can get. I wouldn't get my feathers ruffled for anything. I'd rather my friends here on the forum steer me in the right direction than someone looking at it in my garage. I don't have a clue what they go for when they're absolutely perfect so just looking for some answers. Thanks
