About ready to order parts and have a question . Agco site lists a 70244961 pinion shaft outer bearing seal . My service manual doesn't show one and my pinion shaft didn't have one , only had the inner seal 70261958V . Anyone else run into this ? THANKS !

Have the donor final drive on my engine stand . Ran a 3/8-16 tap in the bull gear oil pan holes . Always try to do that and also use new bolts . Crazy how much trash was in the threads . Who knows what's happened over 60 years , I guess . I plan to install the bull gear with new bearings and a seal first while I can rotate it upside down , then I'll do the pinion shaft . I'm hoping that's a good plan . Thanks !

I tossed (er, carefully installed...) two in per side on the theory they'd be on 'new' part of the shafting, 2 is better than 1 and ,well, only $4 a piece and I 'hopefully' won't ever have 'wet' brakes again.........

The seals Jay mention can also be had as SKF 12458. I only used one per side and had no leaks... been several years now.

FYI the seals on the diff case where the axle goes in are National #471765. You can put TWO of them in place of the 'wider' OEM ones. This should prevent oil from getting onto the brake shoes.... Sad thing is I have 2 sitting here in front on me....

Google Motion Industries store locator. Take your old bearings and seals with and they will match them up. The best 'bang for your buck' in my opinion. |

That's a nice setup Jay . I'll just use the wide strap I have . I'm still redoing the donor final drive and a long way from installing it . Thanks for sharing !

Here's the 'final drive lifting plate' in action ! Simple really, flat plate of steel with 6 holes, 2" sq tubing about a foot long, with 2 'eyes' welded to it. With 2 chain hoists I can get it 'aligned' very well to slide back on. chain hoists are on trolleys on an overhead 8" Ibeam. yellow tubing are '1x2 spacers'. It's a lot safer than the single sling, easy 1 man operation. Jay
