I painted this for my sister as a suprise High School graduation present thought I would see what some of you guys thought about it. I wasn't crazy about the color but it grew on me after it was done. I think it came out pretty good in the end.
![]() What do you guys think.
Sorry if its not really farm equipment but thought I would get the most respose here,
Thanks for looking,
Denis

That is definately unique. LOL
I noticed the stack is about three times the size of that manifold pipe.
And that's a very cool buddy seat. So I think I might just be a little jealous. LOL

If someone told me about a purple tractor, I'd tell them that they were crazy. But, I've got to admit... That looks pretty good! I'm with some of the others, I love the buddy seat. We need some more pics of that. It's exactly what I've been drawing up but haven't completed the final thought process yet.

The front tires and rims are space saver spares from a car, they came on their and I figured the tractor isn't original so why worry about the front tires. I will get some close ups of the seat as soon as the rain lets up out side it is all nut and bolt install just pull the drawbar and bolt it in place.

definately not standard issue but for K-state fans (that would be Kansas) it is the color of choice....so if you ever bring it to Kansas do not let it get out of your sight.
buy the way I do like it even though it hurts to look at it.

Well I did some digging and found these ads for an 1850 Oliver.
Notice anything about the paint?
![]() In 1964 Oliver officially introduced the new 77 hp 1850 and in 1965, the company had a big roll out. Oliver painted a few special 1850's purple for a nation wide advertising campaign. The purple Olivers toured the country for demonstrations at Oliver dealers.
Oliver used the Purple 1850's to market their plows. Their motto was Whether your tractor is red, green, blue, orange or even purple, we have a plow to work for you. The operator of the tractor at the demonstrations dressed in a white jockey outfit as if he was riding a race horse. The picture of the purple 1850 were used in a couple in Oliver advertising. (copy and paste for the WIN. Beseides they said it better than I could. LOL) ![]() ![]() WOULD LOVE TO SEE A REAL ONE.

A buddy of mine painted a JD B pink for his wife.....I thought they were going to have to have every ambulance in the tri county available for heart attacks at the Antique Machinery Show that year.....not sure where its at now though....she and some guy she was sleeping with murdered him(no joke) and it dissapeared...I think some of his other buddies cut it up and sent it to China

Rick, you beat me to it! LOL!
Haven't seen Mr Pinky on here in quite a while, come to think of it.
Not heard much out of Burgie, either. Maybe he's having an identity crisis, or maybe he's just busy painting.LOL!
I got to look at some more detailed photos of that pink C. Most notably, the one with Ms. Pinky adorning the hood in her bikini.(the color grew on me after that.LOL!)
Anyway, before I got distracted I was sayin that C has a few "interesting" mods. One seems to be a Sherman (step down?) tranny box. There are other things too. I'd like to get a closer look someday. Burgie can leave the bikini at home though.LOL! Edited by DREAM - 02 Sep 2010 at 10:29pm |

The purple 1850 Oliver (reproduction) was at the Farm Progress Show in Boone, Iowa this week. Talked to the fellow for quite awile and looked through his photo album. Nice guy. Nothing wrong with different colors as long as the Allis is still on the side. Doyle

I snapped a photo of the purple/pink 1850. I don't think it is an original purple demonstrator, but it is a nice reproduction. There were some very nice vintage tractors at the progress(?!?) show, almost any color you wanted to see.

Tesday after FPS I went to the Van Wall bash just east of FPS. The farmer there had a 200' long shed filled with most Oliver and some others and a 50 x 70 filled with Minne-Mo tractors. Almost a better show than at FPS. But nothing as big as Big Bud. And Van Wall had a bunch of new toys available to be driven if you wanted and a free supper.
