I have never had a problem with mine except I had to put a diode in to get it to shut off when I turn the key off. I guess others have had this problem and I think the answer was to run the excit power through an ignition switch. Better wait for the experts I guess. Maybe Steve B will jump in here. Charlie

If you have your Alternator wiring direct to the Battery, you will have a drain problem. An Alternator & Generator work as a Dynamo to draw mili-volts from a Battery if there isn't anything to interupt or "sever" the Battery from the Charging source. Best way to do this is wire your Alternator through an Ignition switch as I do in my 12V conversions. This will sever the Battery and remove the Battery out of the loop when the key is in the OFF position. You'll need to install a 1 amp/50V diode down stream of the Alternators VR circuit (#1) so you don't have any backfeed to the Ignition switch when the key is turned OFF. Any other questions, just e-mail me or give a call. Be glad to help ya out...
