whiney steering hydraulics/190 gas

   I've went through a lot of work to quiet the cab of my 190 gas; lots of sound guard insulation, triple layer floor mat, headliner, all glass in good shape, and for the most part it is very quiet inside. But, the steering motor gets one heck of an annoying high pitched whine to it most of the time, that I'd desperately like to get rid of. It kind of changes pitch when you turn the steering wheel, and some times a change of engine RPM's will eliminate for a short time, but it always seems to come back. Any one have an idea for a fix for this problem. My 190 XT diesel doesn't have this noise to it, so I would assume it does't have to be there. Thanks in advance for any and all help.    Darrel

	It's actually a steering valve and not a motor. there are several possibilities; It may be a clogged hydraulic filter causing the releif valve to open in the steering system. A bad releif valve Flow divider not working correctly Power director valve problem Bad steering valve

	Thanks, Joe. I have changed the main hyd filter, and I don't think there is another one, is there? As far as the other components that you mentioned go, is there anyway to trouble shoot them one by one without just simply replaceing them? Darrel
