Christmas eve and a terrible storm at the North Pole.
Toys were not ready due to labor issues, elves picketing/threatening to strike.
Sleigh was broke, Santa was waiting on a welder.
Mrs. Claus was going thru menopause, Santa could do nothing right.
Reindeer had come down with hoof and mouth disease.
And Santa was running late.
In the middle of the nasty storm, the 20' tall shop doors opened and a little tiny angel came in dragging a huge Christmas tree.
She asked Santa, "what do you want me to do with this?"

And that is how the angel got atop the Christmas tree.
