Excellent program.  Not good news for many farmers.  I can't see it improving until things change.

Yes, sad... and it does not hit on many other contributing factors either.

It is sad. Machine costs, fuel, the gamble on seed and weather, the gamble many times on personal health, the children do not want to work this hard or this long where they continue to leave these family farms and Corporations buy them up. Gone are the Huge gardens that were sold at local stores and markets, going too the lower cost feeder animals one could buy and fatten up to slaughter for the freezer, gone are small elevators that once dotted the lands for Huge grain buyers working on a few pennies a bushel where they tag farmers for huge losses against dust, dirt, foreign organics, old low test grains but still sell them at the going High Retail pricing.

My Great Aunt and Uncle's farm is almost gone, their only daughter still alive but well into her nineties, she passes and my Cousins will sell it off and likely to a Corporate owner the machines already gone. My Grandmother's Best Friend in life, Mrs. Mary Peyton Meyer, an outspoken very loving person passed several years back, her old farm cut up to almost nothing now. She had been on the Tonight show for her attitude!! Her plot sits aside my own Grandparents.

I watched it. Thanks for posting. Reminds me of '81 when I started. Not much good on the horizon, I am afraid.
sometimes I walk out to my shop and look around and think "Who's the idiot that owns this place?"

WOW !!!  I just watched that interview on a rerun the other night!  She was a feisty ole gal and she made him laugh.

Yes, a sad state for all the farmers trying to make a go of it.  Trump is trying to help, but the rest of the political machine isn't doing anything.  ESPECIALLY our own idiot Ron Kind, who has been promising farmers for almost 20 years that he is going to do something about milk prices.  All he has done is keep getting re-elected.
